Public Engagement

In a new venture, Furnace has teamed up with film-makers Andrew Smith, Andy Jackson and James Aldred. Our aim is to work with scientists, charities, campaigners, artists, educational and arts organisations, writers, thinkers and change-makers, to create compelling and involving films to spread the word.

Between us, we have we have won two BAFTAs, four Emmys, a Royal Television Society Award, a Grierson, five BAFTA nominations, two Peabody Awards - and one of us has even been shortlisted for an Oscar. We specialise in digging deeply into subjects and topics to make sure we understand them and are able to translate them into convincing on-screen narratives.

Communication has never been more important - or more difficult - in a world of saturated social media. For academics, the upcoming Research Excellence Framework calls public engagement for academics "a cornerstone of research excellence". For artists and cultural organisations, it can attract audiences and shape messages - and for campaigners, it can help change hearts and minds, and raise vital funds.
